- 6th Kerk en Leven Peace Prize: Vote for Francisco de Roux, a Jesuit who lives and works in Colombia.
- 23 February 2003: Awarding of the Theodor Haecker Prize for civil courage and political integrity to Laurien Ntezimana, in Esslingen/Neckar, Germany
- Detention of Laurien Ntezimana of Rwanda, field diplomat and founder of "Association Modeste et Innocent" promoting peace education, co-signatory of the Confession of Detmold (12 December 1996) initiating the process of reconciliation between Hutus and Tutsis, recipient of the International Peace Award from Pax Christi International (1998).
